Draft Power Audit Calculations

Power audit — 1

Details

The only way to know what power equipment you need for an RV or camper van is to consider what appliances need, how much power they consume and how often they will be used. From there you can work out what combination of solar, battery and generator power you need with a bit of high school physics.

I broke mine down into two major scenarios — "peak summer off grid" and the shore power requirements at home. I ultimately concluded that a workable AC solution is going to require a gas generator to be able to cope with California summers. Hopefully with quality insulation and awnings I will be able to keep its usage to a minimum.
